Aras Innovator is based on the enterprise open source business model. The source code for every shipped module is therefore open. This open source strategy on the basis of Microsoft Public License (Ms-PL) makes Aras Innovator freely available for Microsoft platforms.

Because of this unique business model, large up-front investments in software licenses and per-user-based licensing models are no longer required. Enterprises can start their PLM project without any financial risk.

After downloading the application, the full range of functions is available, for an unrestricted number of users. As an option, a subscription contract can be signed which includes services such as maintenance, updates, software upgrades, support and consulting services.
